Sustainable Danbury to rebrand at September Event

Community benefit society Sustainable Danbury is teaming up with Danbury Parish Council on a wellbeing and eco fair on 27 September which (alongside the wellbeing experts and holistic therapies) will have information on solar panels, heat pumps and more, eco-friendly stalls and representatives from local wildlife, nature and sustainability groups such as the RHS and Love Essex, as well as a children’s eco-superhero competition and birdboxes and more from The Men's Shed. “Find out what’s going on in your neighbourhood and look at opportunities to get involved,” says project manager Joanne Dolman.

The event will see Sustainable Danbury officially rebrand itself as Common Green, a name that better reflects the organisation’s evolving mission and broader geographical reach. “It captures our commitment to community energy, biodiversity, and sustainable living. It also honours our roots in the village of Danbury, while giving us the flexibility to support and develop projects across a wider area,” says Joanne.

The overarching ethos of the group is one of community benefit, but within that focus it is working to empower communities to generate clean energy, cut carbon emissions and protect the planet as a whole.

Stuart Bird, chair of the board of directors, said: “Incorporating ‘Danbury’ within our name has become limiting in terms of community energy projects and collaborations. The National Lottery grant we received as part of the Community Energy People project last year is enabling us to spread our wings.”

A number of exciting prospects await. The group is looking at options to bring public EV charging points to the village. Solar projects with local schools are also in the pipeline, along with collaborations with local wildlife organisations. And, as a community energy benefit society with sustainability as a core aim, it is developing a support offer to help schools meet their 2025 climate action plan obligations, in collaboration with local authority staff.

Common Green’s new name and logo have been developed with creative media agency Trawler & Co. An exciting new website will also go live at the fair.
